The deceased person pays the ferryman. The phrase comes from ancient Greek mythology, where a coin (typically an obolus) was placed in or on the mouth of a dead person before burial or cremation. This coin served as payment to Charon, the ferryman of Hades, to safely transport the soul across the River Styx into the underworld.
In nowdays who is the ferryman and who is the dead meat?
The War between Greece and Turkey is unavoidable. This escalation is planned from the very beginning, starting with daily threats from the Turkish media and followed by daily airspace violations. Since the invasion of Cyprus, friction extends far beyond politics and military borders. Ongoing disputes now regularly impact illegal fishing, cultural identity and shared traditions. Turkey claims exclusive ownership of historical narratives, traditional food, and dance dating back 2,500 years, seemingly overlooking the fact that Mongolian tribes possess approximately one millennium of recorded history.
This escalating provocation will inevitably lead to a dead end. Instead of a minor, short-lived conflict lasting only three to five days, we face the risk of a full-scale war spanning from northern Greece across the Eastern Aegean archipelago, and encompassing all of Cyprus. There is a profound accumulation of anger and resentment among the Greek public, who are no longer willing to tolerate these actions.
Turkey appears to have no other option but to make a fatal mistake and trigger a confrontation. It is shallow thinking to believe this is a prime opportunity to replace the USA as the dominant power in the region, just as America shifts its global focus elsewhere. Empowered by incursions into Syria and Iraq, Erdogan believes this is his moment to seize control, revive the Ottoman Empire, and usher Turkey into a new era. However, he is playing with loaded dice and is too reckless to see the trap ahead.
The United States and Israel used Erdogan as a useful tool to orchestrate the collapse of the Assad regime by mobilizing terrorist groups and ISIS, leaving the puppet Golani as a mere profit-seeker. The turkish leader, who views himself as the heir to the Ottoman empire, behaves as if the world is still flat, which explains why the descendants of these nomadic tribes have contributed so little to science and culture. Cruel by nature, they have historically relied on massacres and bazaar-style negotiations, making promises and treaties they never intended to keep because they were not clever enough to foresee the severe complications and ultimate consequences of wars and conspiracies.
For the past seven years, the Greek government has tried to calm a hostile neighbor, and almost every day it has taken another step back under Turkish pressure. Now it faces her own fatal mistake: the “last train to London,” a one-way journey with no return. That train is the Sovereign Green Interconnector (SGI), the project meant to link the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean. If Athens misses this moment, there will be no tomorrow.
The suffocating, decades-long pressure of relentless Turkish aggression has pushed Greek patience to its absolute limit, fueling an unforgiving rage over bleeding defense budgets and the stolen lives of fallen heroes. While out-of-touch European nations blindly turn a blind eye, Greeks carry the deep scars of 400 years of brutal subjugation and an endless onslaught of wars. This bloody history of unpunished genocides and forced displacement by a ruthless neighbor has left a legacy of raw fury, cementing an unyielding demand for justice and absolute retribution.
The high Readiness of the Greek Army: where despite shortages and mismanagement by various political governments, it maintains the highest patriotic morale and bears no resemblance to its European counterparts.
Collective Resilience: These historical epochs instill a collective psychological framework where contemporary challenges are viewed through the lens of past endurance and ultimate survival, transforming historical memory into a modern defense mechanism.
The Terrifyingly Massive Awakening of Greeks: in Greece and abroad, where social media daily reproduce thousands of images and videos with the help of AI, is helping even more people understand its culture and acquire a national consciousness. Furthermore, they respond to the provocations of unhistorical Turks who vanish without any arguments; the channels of strategic analysts also assist in this entire effort.
The Support of Modern Philhellenes in a potential Greek-Turkish conflict would crucially extend Greece's diplomatic and cultural influence, reviving the 19th-century movement in a digital format. Today, foreign academics, politicians, and social media networks champion Greek positions, international law, and European border protection. This wave of global solidarity serves as both a moral anchor and a tool for political pressure, urging foreign governments to provide strategic and material aid while reaffirming that defending Greece means defending shared Western and humanitarian values.
Strategic loneliness: In all the winning wars, they were deeply alone. On most occasions from the ancient era, they outnumbered them and the Greeks learned their lesson, especially in 1974 with the notorious Henry Kissinger, and the role of the USA and the so-called allies. Also, they now know all the traitors within. And now they know for good that a politician or a military leader who gives the order to surrender or withdraw will immediately evaporate.
Phase 1: The Northern Front (Eastern Thrace)The opening engagement of the conflict will materialize along the northern axis in Eastern Thrace. The Hellenic Armed Forces will absorb the initial assault, immediately transitioning from a defensive posture into a high-intensity counter-offensive. Conducting a coordinated breakthrough along a linear front, the objective will be to drive opposing forces and a displaced population of approximately 12 million back to the western bank of the Bosporus, creating a catastrophic logistical bottleneck on the European side of Constantinopole.
Phase 2: The Maritime Front (Aegean Archipelagos): Concurrently, across the Aegean Archipelagos, Greek early-warning and surveillance systems will rapidly detect and track hostile amphibious assault craft. In response, the military will execute a preemptive or retaliatory strike targeting the Gulf of Smyrna, threatening an operational center of gravity. This maneuver is projected to destabilize the region, triggering a massive humanitarian crisis and displacing upwards of 5 million civilians into the interior of Anatolia.
Phase 3: The Southern Theater (Cyprus): Simultaneously, the theater of operations will expand to Cyprus as the next axis of the counter-offensive. The Cypriot National Guard, maintaining a state of high combat readiness and advanced operational training, will mobilize for decisive action. Composed largely of descendants of those affected by the 1974 Turkish invasion, the force possesses deep-seated motivational factors. Given fifty years of unresolved geopolitical grievances and historical trauma, the intensity of this engagement is projected to be unprecedented
In Case: Island Occupation: Even in a scenario where opposing forces successfully execute an amphibious lodgment and temporarily occupy an island, their sustainability will be highly restricted, capping their operational hold at a maximum of 24 hours. The Hellenic Armed Forces' rapid reaction forces and pre-targeted artillery arrays are optimized to deny local sea and air control, isolating any captured territory and launching immediate counter-amphibious assaults to neutralize the beachhead before the adversary can consolidate their positions. Not to mention the Greek inhabitants who will be waiting...
End of Part 01, to be continued...
In every crisis, someone pays the ferryman, and someone is carried across. Pressure answered with retreat only teaches the other side that the fare is cheap. Athens must decide now whether the Eastern Mediterranean will be shaped by its own choices or by everyone else’s.
